The surgeon’s fee is not the price
A quote that names only the surgeon’s fee leaves out the operating room, anesthesia, testing, and garments. Those are part of what someone actually pays.
Two tags, never one average
PAID is a total someone paid — the amount on the invoice, with the add-ons included. BENCHMARK is someone else’s published figure. It may be a surgeon fee only, and the label on the row says so when that is the case. The two never go into the same statistic. Blending a surgeon fee with an all-in total is the habit this site exists to stop.

What a quoted surgeon fee leaves out
These are typical ranges for the line items a quoted surgeon fee omits. They are a published benchmark, labelled as such, and they are not mixed into the medians on this site.
| Line item | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Facility / operating room | $1,200 – $6,500 |
| Anesthesia | $800 – $2,500 |
| Pre-operative testing | $300 – $1,200 |
| Compression garments | $80 – $350 |
Collectively these add 40–50% to a quoted surgeon fee. Cosmetic surgery cost analysis, 2026, https://mymedicineadvisor.com/health/cosmetic-surgery-costs-2025/, captured August 14, 2026.
